These two pictures are both portraits but the differences depend a lot on the fact that one of them was taken outdoors and one of them indoors. In the first one, the lighting is controlled. In the second one, they are taking advantage of the sun. They are both used to convey an emotional message. They are also both focused on the faces of the people. They are also taken from right in front of the person.
